    Hi guys -

hmm, I love my Berg and since I had modified my axles with the amazing D-Lux parts I'm serious thinking about to change the picture from my wife in my wallet to a picture of my D-Lux Berg axles:mrgreen:

Buuut, I'm open minded and so I've decided to build my first Chaotic Crawlers Special with XR10 axles:shock:

Next decision to make was the one, that I'm loving the strongness of Carbon Fibre and my Team Boss from Chaotic Crawlers couldn't help me out at the moment with a CF special chassis. So a good friend from Germany gave me a hand and made two CF chassis for me. Thanks for that, Buddy, great job"thumbsup"

So my parts list so far:

    - Chaotic Crawlers Special Bodiless Carbon Fibre Chassis
    - XR axles
    - RC4WD Gears
    - VP Motorplate
    - VP Gear Cover
    - VP Chubs
    - VP Knuckles
    - VP Alu Lockers
    - VP upper front link mount
    - VP upper rear link mount
    - Chaotic Crawlers Titanium Tie Rod
    - Chaotic Crawlers Titanium Links
    - D-Lux Knuckle Weights
    - Custom made battery mount on the axle
    - BWD Rear brace
    - BWD Servo Mount
    - BWD Motor guards
    - Axial XR10 Shocks
    - Kyosho Springs
    - Traxxas Rodends
    - some lightweight screws and further small parts

    - Custom made Carbon Wheels in 0.8" and 1.0"

    the electronics:

    - Hitec 7950 or Futaba BLS172HV
    - Team Brood Creep 35 R/T x 2 ( I love em...)
    - Castle Mamba Micro Pros x 2
    - Castle BEC
    - Airtronics MT-4 Radio
    - Maxamp Lipos 430 mAh 100C 3S

so far so good; let's start with my build thread...

First of all I was fascinated from the XXL Skidplate of the Chaotic Special chassis; I don't know what these guys are doing with their skids; for me a skid has to be short, thin and very, very lightweighten...

    that what it was...

and I decided to go this way:

and then I mounted the chassis using some lightweight screws and some standard ones...

I've not that much time this week, so give me some time to continue, guys.

    regards

    100 Euro? :mdr3: :mdr3: :mdr3: :mdr3: :mdr3:

No idea, but you can make the summary very easy:

XR10 axles (Stock) ca. Euro 120.-
Chassis (if they would produce it) ca. Euro 140.-
Titanium Links and Tierod ca. Euro 100.-
    2 x RC4WD Gear Set ca. Euro 55.-
Vanquish Parts (C's, Knuckles, Motorplates, Gear Case, Upper Link mounts) ca. Euro 360.-
    2 x Brood Motors ca. Euro 130.-
    Hitec 7950 ca. 115 Euro
    CC BEC 17 Euro
Shocks (TRX Bigbores with mod) ca. 60 Euro
    Springs ca. 12 Euro
    Traxxas Rodends ca. 18 Euro
2 x Castle Micro SW ca. 80 Euro
    D-Lux Knuckleweights ca. 60 Euro
Small Parts (Battery mount, cables, a.s.o.) ca. 30 Euro

so without any wheels around Euro 1'300.-

and how you can see, most of the parts are needed for every MOA comp crawler, so the price of the chassis and some titanium parts are not the big thing in this build.

That's why I recommand to buy any used Comp rig for the Newbies; you can buy a perfect rig with an aproofed setup and with all the stuff you need (wheels, batteries, a.s.o.) for around Euro 600.- to 800.- and you can start directly into this fantastique sport/hobby.

And if you wanna build an own rig for the next season, you'll have a lot of the parts you need (servo, ESC, BEC, wheels, axles).

But if you wanna run comps allover the world, the price is much higher then, cause I have most of the parts doubled and in my box with me, so if a motor will break, i can change it within 5 minutes. The same with the chassis plates, the knuckles, a.s.o.
And you need at least 3 sets of wheels for the different setups with different tires and foams.

But as a comp driver you don't have to buy everything at one moment, a lot of things are already in the box :yes3:

and now some small updates in the build:

got some small updates, the rear axle has been done for the moment; first of all I have compared the lockers (Stock, VP and Axial), I decided to go with the Axial ones...

and then mounted on the axle:

I was shocked about the weight of the completed axle with everything:shock:

27 gramms more than my Berg axle; I'll have to find a way to make some diet...

I'm awaiting the VP upper link holder...

    regards

    Dani

have got some shocks and just awaiting some more different springs for playing with the setup if she's ready then.

I decided to make it with the big bores, they are working great in my berg, so I should be happy here too. The rear shocks I made a bit longer (+4 mm).

    good job :yeah3:

but you use some light oil w/ stiff spring... I'm w/ 30/40 wt oil and silver miniT spring:jecpa3: (what piston do you use ??)

and make a hole in the cap help a lot to have a consistent shock, the bladder move freely

    can't to see the evolution :yesd3: (I really love your wheels !!!! :yes3: :yes3: :yes3: )

the springs on the pix are not the right one I'm using later; I'll go ahead with some pink springs, but they gonna get to be painted black :rir3: Oil must be tested, I'll starting with 10 and go in 10th steps upwards...

    some more pix tomorrow...

made the front axle ready, BWD Alu servo mount, VP C's and knuckles, mounted the Chaotic Crawlers Tie rod. The Bec found a place under the servo, fitts perfect there and is good for very short cables.

    heavy stuff

then assembling with the well fitting Chaotic Links; now she's a roller...

I'm thinking that I'll go with 3.5" shocks in front and 4" in rear, change that when I receive the right springs. The shocks are lay down a bit to much in my eyes...

and here with alle the electronic stuff put in (2 x ESC, Receiver), just everything except the panels...

I think the 5 lbs are possible, still some weight to loose...

ready to prepare the electronic stuff...

    done...

hope I can change shocks and springs tomorrow; and make a little rollout in the Crawler-Halle... with a little video;-)

    some news, the roller isn't a roller, she's a rig now :wink3:

made some setup runs and made some small adjustments, new spring cups (thanks Manu), 4" shocks all around with pink springs front and red ones rear, some link positions changed (thanks 53 willys, your thread was very helpfull), mounted the lower links and the shocks to the same (shock) mount at the axle (thanks ruffryder). Your guys are great, I'm far away to be an XR10 pro yet, but I understand these axles much better now...

And the chassis is.... amazing :yes3:

Did some runs yesterday, together with racer (and his Agent), she did very, very well...

The panels are just a test yet, playing around a bit with a new design...

here some pix (no vid yet, just working on it):
